Drop off: 9am
Pick up: 3pm
Ages: 1st – 8th
Description:
We are in era of the game that is dominated by skill players and ball handling is a critical skill for players at every position. It’s an area that most new players struggle, and experienced players can spend years perfecting. During Ball Handling Camp newer players will focus on learning foundational skills like pound dribbles and basic exchanges while more experienced players will learn to execute skills like the crossover, between the legs and behind the back dribbles. They will start with stationary drills that focus on proper technique early in the week and will progress to doing these moves in game like scenarios by the end of the week. Players will also learn skills like combining moves to beat their defender, misdirection and counter moves.
Training Focuses:
· Ball Handling Fundamentals: Players will focus on mastering basic and advanced ball handling skills through stationery and transitional drills. Proper hand placement, ball control, footwork, and body placement are a few of the many skills players will learn.
· Off-Hand Development: We will challenge players to use their less dominate hand by increasing reps every day at the beginning and end of each camp day.
· Combinations and Counter Moves: Players will develop an offensive awareness to know when to use certain moves in different scenarios. A major focus will be placed on using effective combinations while learning not to over dribble. Learning counters will be based off reading the defenders hand and foot placement.
· Competition: Players will be challenged everyday by our Skill Development Coaches and their peers with different ball handling games and skill challenges.
